SIMIC is pleased to announce that, together with our partner Ansaldo Nucleare within the SIMANN consortium, we have successfully completed the repair of the bevel joint areas and the preparation of the fourth Vacuum Vessel Sector #4 of the ITER tokamak. The activities were carried out on-site at the ITER Organization facilities in Cadarache, France.
Following the completion of the repair of the Vacuum Vessel Sectors #6, #7, #8 and #4, the next VV sector in the sequence will be Sector #1, which is scheduled to be completed in this month.
This massive component is now wrapped and ready to be transferred to ITER’s Assembly Hall for final assembly.
The milestone achievement on schedule is the result of several months of continuous work in three-shifts, performing highly precise operations (meeting tolerances as tight as 0,1 mm) to restore and finalize the component. It highlights SIMIC’s solid industrial capabilities and confirms the Italian engineering excellence we proudly bring to the world’s most ambitious fusion energy project.
We are excited to contribute to a future of clean, limitless energy through fusion.
