SIMIC is proud to contribute to the development of the *Frascati Coil Cold Test Facility (FCCTF)*, a key infrastructure of the experimental project DTT Divertor Tokamak Test facility led by ENEA.
Our role includes the design, construction, testing, and delivery of an advanced cryostat, including:
– high-temperature superconducting current leads,
– vacuum system and cryogenic valves,
– support structure for superconducting magnets.
This system will enable low-temperature (4.5 K) testing of the magnets that will form the heart of the DTT reactor, a facility designed to explore innovative fusion energy solutions.
The cryostat will be built in stainless steel, thermally and electrically insulated, and designed to host large magnets (TF, PF, CS), ensuring operation under realistic conditions. A liquid nitrogen cooling system and dedicated thermal shield will ensure temperature stability.
📦 The entire system will be delivered and installed at ENEA’s laboratories in Frascati, where it will be integrated with the test facility.
🔬 A complex, ambitious, and high-tech project that strengthens the role of Italian industry – and SIMIC – in major research programs on clean energy for the future.
