Note

The supply covers the engineering and manufacturing activities related to the construction of the Cassette Body prototype of the ITER Divertor made of various stainless steel materials and aluminium bronze alloy. The Cassette Body is a part of the Iter Divertor containing three Plasma-facing Components (namely, the inner and outer vertical targets and the dome). The Cassette Body will be made of stainless steel 316 L(N) ITER grade and will have a total mass of approximately 4.7 tons. He leak test : <1x10-8  mbar. L/s. The technical design will enable the targets, in their lower part, to intercept the magnetic field lines, and therefore remove the high heat load coming from the plasma. The upper-curved part of the targets will provide a baffle which will limit the neutral particle flow, and prevent it from extinguishing the fusion reaction. The dome will also baffle neutral particles and protect the Cassette Body from direct contact with the plasma. The Divertor Cassette Assemblies will be fixed to the Vacuum Vessel using attachments made out of aluminium bronze. The main function of the Divertor is to minimize the impurity content in the plasma whilst exhausting part of the plasma thermal power (including alpha power). As the main interface component  between the plasma and material surfaces, it shall tolerate high heat loads while at the same time providing neutron shielding for the Vacuum Vessel and magnet coils, in the vicinity of the Divertor.

This contract for the Prototype was awarded on December 2013 and will last in 24 months, while the duration for the construction of the series of 60 Cassette Bodies will be 68 months in case of award.
