In February 2023 SIMIC made another ambitious contribution to energy transition and sustainability by putting into operation the new 30 MW “Fiumesanto” onshore wind power plant located in Porto Torres, Sardinia, Italy.
The plant consists of five Vestas V162-6.0 MW wind turbines for a total installed power of 30 MW. with a rotor diameter of 162 m and a hub height of 119 m, the V162-6.0 MW is the largest and most powerful wind turbine ever installed in Italy.
“We are happy to have successfully completed this new important project and we wish to thank all those who contributed. The new park strengthens the group’s renewable assets, with a pipeline started over 10 years ago with solar plants. Renewables are part of SIMIC’s broader approach to energy transition and to make a contribution to a more sustainable society, along with our long-standing commitment in nuclear fusion project”, says Giuseppe Ginola, founder and managing director of SIMIC.
“We would like to thank SIMIC for the trust placed in Vestas’ technology. With a swept area of over 20,000m², the V162-6.0 MW wind turbine represents a new generation in the evolution of wind energy. We expect its advanced modularity and increased performance will make a significant contribution to Italy’s energy transition. It also allows us to increase the annual energy production of our customers’ wind parks”, says Vestas General Manager for Italy and Turkey, Francesco Amati.
